Our History
More than 20 years ago, a number of park managers in New Zealand met to discuss the value of sharing information across the parks industry, to better plan, fund and deliver services.
From there, Yardstick took many forms, providing benchmarking for roads, facilities, swim schools, and more across many countries, cities and municipalities, in partnership with industry associations.
Now, our Yardstick benchmarking programme and intercept surveys are used across Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Denmark.
In 2024, we refreshed all of our Yardstick programmes and our web application. The current available benchmark is Parks, with Sport and Recreation Facilities launching in September 2025.
